Damir Imamović is a sevdah musician from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is one of the inspiring forces behind the rebirth of the traditional style of sevdah (also known as sevdalinka), Bosnia’s gorgeous and centuries old popular song form. The Huffington Post recently called Damir “The King of Sevdah.” While Damir and his band Sevdah Takht are certainly the most important young proponents of sevdah, their approach is fuelled by a fearless commitment to push this passionate music into contemporary, unknown territory. They are more revolutionaries than kings.
